Glossary What is the Paris Climate Agreement?

Successor to the Kyoto Protocol decided in 2015 with specific targets of limiting global warming to well below 2°C by 2100 and, if possible, 1.5°C with 190 participating countries.
In addition to limiting warming (climate change mitigation), the ability to adapt to climate change (climate change adaptation) is to be increased. 

Companies are called upon to make their contribution to achieving the goals, e.g. by limiting emissions to such an extent that warming is limited to below 2°. The agreement also includes supporting developing countries in the transition to a low-carbon economy through financial assistance, resources or expertise. The Katowice Rulebook governs the implementation of the measures of the agreement.
